Titans earn #1 seed in the Hardtke’s Classic

2009 September 13
by Brady Ball

Even though we only had 10 players we ended up the number one seed in our bracket. This means we will be playing tomorrow at 12:30 on the main diamond. Be there an hour early. As Joe mentioned we will be wearing red. We will be facing Navy Blue which I believe is the Wilcox team. It should be a good game. One thing to keep in mind is they will be playing on their home turf. We need to be fired up and ready go.

Great day over all. The pitching came through big today! Michael throwing a complete game against Hardtkes. Striking out 8 and giving up only 4 hits. Great outing Mike. I was told by one of the umpires that we faced Hardtkes top guys. We rallied for 10 hits and 10 runs. Not bad for the first game. Needless to Say I was very proud of the boys and the way they played.

Then Frank step up in game two to shut out the Buckeye’s. We got off to a slow start but broke out late in the game to put up a 9 spot in the 4th to end it early. Frankie held the buckeye scoreless for four and that was enough for Titan to put it away. Defensively I thought we play very well. I don’t think we made an error in either game. And that is why our opponents only score one run today. Great job fellows.

Titans off to an ugly start on Sunday. Titans took the field against the local Legends and James Uroz gets the ball. James didn’t seem to have his best stuff today as the legend got there first two hitters on base. They went through the line up in the first inning and scored three runs. Titans Get one back in the first when Jessie drew a two out walk and Frankie hit a shot in the gap for a double to score Jessie.
Legends kept the heat on and score every inning. Titans couldn’t keep up with that pace. Titans lose 12 - 5. James get the lose.

Top player for the Titans was Frank Duncan who went two for three with a double in the Gap.

Titans lose to the Shockers by one run. Titans got off to a slow start in game two when the Shockers jumped ahead 3 - 1 in the second inning. The shockers get one more in the fifth. But the Titans never gave up. They came back in the sixth to tie it up 4 - 4. The Shockers started the next inning with a lead off walk. Then their number two hitter pops one up to first base when Brandon Farley makes a great catch and flips the ball to heads up Kevin Wilson who came out of no where to double off the lead off hitter. Just when you thought the Titans had the momentum Dario leaves a pitch up to their number three hitter who goes yard. Shockers end up winning the game 5 - 4.
